How Instant Glues Can Eliminate Clamping
Product Information: The cyanoacrylate glues I used in this demo are manufactured by Bob Smith Industries and are available online from Amazon (click here for link). To find ordering information on the accelerator, specifically, click here. You'll also find this brand and others in most hobby stores. Home improvement centers and hardware stores may carry cyanoacrylates, but probably won't have the accelerator.
Sometimes an object like the detail on a cuckoo clock can be difficult to repair with conventional wood glues because they are almost impossible to clamp. There is a type of glue that doesn't require any clamping. It is a cyanoacrylate glue made especially for porous materials like wood. On its own it would dry in about 30 seconds, but when sprayed with an accelerator on the connecting part, the bond is practically instantaneous.
