Techniques for using Heavy-Weight and Light-Weight Spackle
A ding, small hole, or big scratch is bound to be in almost any home. Whether caused by moving heavy furniture or daily wear and tear, it’s something that is easily repaired. Did you know that there are two types of patching compounds used for repairing holes, dents, and cracks in walls?
While heavy-weight and light-weight spackle both serve the same purpose, they differ in their composition, drying time, and suitability for different repair jobs. In this video, you’ll see both types of repair.
Lightweight spackle is ideal for small repairs like nail holes, dents, and minor cracks.
It dries quickly and has minimal shrinkage, making it easy to sand and paint over.
Heavyweight spackle is better suited for larger repairs, such as filling deep holes, cracks, or seams. It offers greater strength and durability but takes longer to dry and may require multiple coats as demonstrated in the video.
With some light sanding and touch-up paint, your home should look good as new! Now, if you find that you have a large hole in your drywall, you’ll want to follow Ron’s demonstration on how to repair a hole in the wall.
