Those typical rubber hoses that supply hot and cold water to the washing machine won’t last forever. Depending on exposure to sunlight, heat and other conditions, they can weaken and fail before the machine itself gives up the ghost and needs replacing. This is a serious potential problem for two reasons. First, these hoses are under constant water pressure -- in most homes, they are “on” 24/7, 365 days a year. Second, if they burst during the night, or when no one is at home, water can run undetected for hours, causing extensive damage. The good news: it’s a potential problem that’s easily avoided.
