There are a lot of really good-looking rugs on the market, but some don't have a slip resistant back. If you've ever slipped on a rug, you know how dangerous it can be. Ron offers this simple tip to make a slippery rug into a slip-free rug.

Begin with a trip to your local hardware or home improvement store for a rubber pad designed to go under the rug. Turn the rug over, and place the rubber pad on the back. Mark the rubber pad so that it's about one inch smaller than the rug itself and then cut it out with a pair of scissors. |

You can simply put the pad down on the floor and the rug on top, and be finished, but Ron recommends attaching them together with double-stick carpet tape, which can also be found at the hardware or home improvement store.

First apply the tape around the perimeter of the rug and then add a couple of strips in the middle for a more secure attachment. Peel off the protective backing and attach the pad to the underside of the rug.

Now set the rug down on the floor; where it should finally stay put.
