Lifestyles and families change over time what may have been, at one time, an ideal room layout, can become less desirable. In a few decades, we have gone from homes that featured many smaller, single-function rooms to those that feature larger expanses designed for multiple uses. The present day family room or great room is a good example.

One way to realize some of the benefits of a larger space is to, in effect; join two rooms by enlarging the passageway or doorway between them. 

This video covers all the steps including: removing the existing wall covering and framing, moving electrical, putting up the new framing and installing the finish work.
