Three Holiday Gift Ideas with DIY Appeal
This post is in partnership with Chamberlain. All opinions are my own.
Gifts that Give Back
One of These is Sure to Please
Buying a gift for someone who is a tinkerer, maker, or DIY enthusiast can be both easy and difficult. It’s easy because nearly all hands-on doers love tools and gadgets. But it can be challenging to match just the right gift to the recipient. Here are four tools and accessories I already have or would very much like to have. I’m reasonably sure one of these will fill the bill for that certain tool lover on your list.
Retractable Overhead Workshop Power Supply
Workshop power cords can get in the way, end up tangled, and even become tripping hazards. This new Chamberlain Garage Power Station solves that problem. It mounts to the ceiling saving valuable workspace and brings electrical power to every corner of the workspace. The tangle-free cord stays out of the way and auto-retracts when not in use. What’s more, the same cord delivers on-demand inflation air and features a compact LED work light.
Remarkably Handy Cordless Nailer
This new Ryobi AirStrike cordless brad nailer requires no compressor, gas cartridge, or bulky hose. It’s portable, lightweight, and incredibly handy. The tool can accommodate 18-gauge nails from 5/8-inch up to two inches in length; and because the brads have such a small diameter, they virtually eliminate splitting. This is a go-to tool I use for rapid assembly, craft projects, and interior wood trim because it’s always ready to go and completely hassle-free. A real winner.
A Brilliant Work Light that Keeps Your Hands Free
If your DIY enthusiast already has a well-stock tool bin, here’s something that, most likely, is not part of his or her collection. Coast Products' LED headlamp directs brilliant light exactly where it’s needed while leaving both hands free to work. I use it when doing plumbing repairs inside base cabinets, working in attics, basements or crawl spaces, during power outages, for after dark automotive emergencies, and even to light my pathway during an evening walk with my dog.
